update: my backpack is packed (everything fits!!), australian bank account is applied for (westpac), health insurance is figured out, and the complex systems of australian cell phone plans are Beginning to be unraveled!

the blue centerlight

for those of you wondering where the name of my Australian blog came from, *the blue centerlight* is part of a quote from Kerouacs *On the Road* - one of my new favorites. this mostly autobiographical work was completed in only 3 weeks! it consists of a sort of rambling spontaneous confessional prose detailing out a road trip across the US and his relationships with some of the other beat authors and unconventional intellectuals of the day. so here it is, the quote that influenced me and this blog and my journey to Oz:

Michelles Australian Blog

hi all and welcome to my blog! here you will find updates and reflections on my journey that starts on August 15th in the gso airport and lands me in Sydney Australia two days later with a 1 year work/holiday visa, a backpack, one-week booked at the Wake Up Australia hostel, and not much else. where is it going to lead? well, you will just have to come back and find out, right mate? for now, see below for an australian dictionary word-of-the-day to get us started:
